Exploring Poetry for Stress Management
Exploring Poetry for Stress Management (EPSM) group psychotherapy provides a relaxed and supportive setting for expressing and processing emotions related to living with cancer. The group helps create a feeling of community to decrease stress and isolation for those dealing with cancer.
Dr. Teresa Kope facilitates the group. With more than 30 years experience working as a psychiatrist she has studied the impact reflective reading can have on stress and anxiety. Group participants will take turns reading poetry aloud and sharing emotions. No previous experience with poetry is required.
EPSM is open to adults of all ages and abilities who are experiencing stress, anxiety, and depression related to living with cancer. A referral from your family physician is required, and MSP covers all costs. Once we receive a doctor's referral, you will be contacted for an individual interview to ensure the group is a good fit, and to answer any questions before the start of the group.
You can download a physician referral form here and ask your doctor to complete and fax it to 604.563.3094.
The next group starts Fall 2018.
